Who is Dare to be a Dandelion?

Jill Valentine is a Certified Professional Coach and avid volunteer. She is excited to be meshing the coaching world with the humanitarian world to help those who want to make the world a better place to make it happen in a meaningful and enjoyable way.

Jill believes in “dandelion living” and lives by Gandhi’s words, “Be the change you wish to see in the world”.  She has worked over a decade in the non-profit world, including The Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, and most recently at ParaSport Ontario.

As an avid volunteer Jill gives hundreds of hours a year to various causes both locally and abroad.  In 2011 she spent a year volunteering in Uganda and Rwanda forwarding the development of their disability sport system.  In 2007 she volunteered in Tanzania as a recreation therapist at the national physical rehabilitation centre and with children affected by HIV/AIDS and most recently spent a month in the Philippines helping to rebuild after Typhoon Yolanda.  While at home Jill continues to volunteer for several organizations in varying capacities from board member and strategic planning to event logistics and fundraising.

An enthusiastic traveller, Jill has backpacked through Europe, explored the Yukon Territory and parts of Alaska, studied Spanish in Spain, summited Kilimanjaro, bungee jumped into the Nile River, white water kayaked and rafted in the Nile River and Peru, completed the Inca Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu and honeymooned in South East Asia.

One of Jill’s greatest personal accomplishments was completing a 3 Day Bike Ride from Brussels to London in support of empowering and educating children to overcome the effects of poverty, conflict, and disease in disadvantaged communities through sport with Right to Play.

Jill currently lives in Toronto with her husband whom she met playing ultimate Frisbee and they are expecting their first child in January.
